Big eucalyptus trees on the coast highway are mostly associated with Leucadia but downtown Encinitas has some ones as well. This fountain area in the Lumberyard is a nice place to sip a hot chocolate while Christmas shopping.
Ha! I used to live in the Red Roof Apartments, barely visible across the highway in the pic, back in the early 90's. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Encinitas/Leucadia, and your blog has been one my happiest additions to my RSS feed recently. I learned to surf at D-Street, and am currently catching swells on the Big Island of Hawaii. Keep up the good work, aloha from Volcano, and Happy Solstice!
