So what are they up to now???
It looks to be the first step in the implementation of the Encinitas Commons plan for the Quail Gardens corridor. This is the Ecke proposal for "upgrading" the area. The initial step is to create three parcels with the possibility of selling (not giving) one to the botanical gardens. The other two could be developed as "farms" with restaurants/hotels growing something to maintain the agricultural zoning on the minimum 10-acre parcel. Museums and other art oriented facilities are also proposed. It all sounds lovely. However, the Eckes agreed to agricultural zoning in perpetuity on the 65-acre ranch property in exchange for developing the Encinitas Ranch area. They lost on Prop. A to build 200 additional homes. This is the proverbial foot-in-the-door to do an end run around the zoning restrictions. It all needs to be looked at very carefully. It is disingenuous to say there are no development plans at this time. There are, but those will come later.
Passage of Prop A would have made Encinitas more like Orange County. Good thing the usual suspects were on guard.
I went to the Ecke meeting on this and SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. I DO NOT trust this guy.....
