Goes to show that prices don't change much. Those houses cost about 650 ounces of gold back then (45 years ago on Parkwood Lane), and you'd pay about 650 ounces of gold for a new house in Leucadia today. The only thing that changes is the steady dollar devaluation against both gold and houses.
When you did your calculations to show that a house is the same as gold, you probably should have added to the house price the positive side benefits you get from owning a beach house in Leucadia (the constant stream of chicks you get + the effective free rent).
